WebNov 18, 2009 · Now before you go crazy on me I had my block hot tanked and cleaned from the machine shop with cam bearings and freeze plugs installed. On a side note though I had 3 freeze plugs leaking after a installed the block in the car and 2 sealed up but the one behind the trans still leaks. I wish I had bought mine from summit and installed them myself. WebMay 1, 2015 · When you replace the plug used a brass plug instead of steel which will rust specially in salt water and coat the plug with a shellac sealer. Clean the hole in the block so it has no residue from the old plug. I don't know much about those rubber plugs so maybe somebody else would know. But that plug should not have come out by itself.

The only thing that cracked were the manifolds and the bottom of the thermostat (manifold side) housing.
